We'll be back on the bikes after a rest day in Canberra, and heading for Cooma on the 15th April. We'll be making our way gradually upwards to Cooma, passing through Bredbo and Michelago along the way. Let's hope the sun is shining as we head in to the colder alpine climate, by now we will have forgotten what the balmy coastal rides were like!
Cooma is by far our smallest town we've visited so far, and it's these rural centres that community pain education is most important. We're running one public seminar at the Cooma Ex-Services Club, starting at 5pm, and we're counting on a good turn out from the Cooma community. Knowing what pain is, and what helps people to recover is an important message for everyone, as well as for people living with persisting pain. We've only got room for 80 people, so let's make sure we fill that up. We'll open the doors an hour early, at 4pm, to allow people to bring their individual questions about pain, and how to treat it to our team of pain experts at the help desk. Book your free ticket HERE.
While the riders are sweating it out on the road, the Brain Bus will be set up at the Rotary Markets in Centennial Park. The Brain Bus will give the public in Cooma a chance to experience some of the illusions and experiments that tell researchers about how the brain works, and what that means for recovering from persisting pain. Dr Tasha Stanton and the team of Brain Bus pain experts will be at the markets from 10am-1pm. Don't miss their fun experiments and the chance to learn about pain.
We can't do these events without the help and support of the local communities we visit. We'd like to thank Snowy Mountain Physiotherapy for sponsoring the Cooma event, and to their Cooma practice head Physiotherapist Renee Pirozzi being our local hero and link to the Cooma community. A huge thank you also to Gretta Walsh, one of our newly selected Local Pain Educators in Cooma, for letting as many people as possible know about the events. As always, without our sponsors, we wouldn't be able to move this Pain Revolution forward.
